ABOUT MARY QUINN
Being one of eight children, taught me early on, the value of family moments. The excitement of a wedding, the anticipation of a pregnancy, the birth of a child and the laughter shared by kids, just to name a few.
My goal is to capture these family stories to be shared for a lifetime. Imagery that incites emotion as well as documenting the moment.
My parents both loved the Arts and shared drawing, painting and music with all eight of us. However, my dad who was a scientist, did not think photography was a way to “make a living.” So when I attended college to pursue my dream job, he insisted that business courses were also part of my agenda. Needless to say, both paths of art and business led to a successful career.
I graduated from Rutgers University receiving a BA and furthered my education at Trenton State College, Philadelphia University of the Arts and Burlington County College. With the ever changing photography field, I became a member of the Guild of Professional Photographers of the Delaware Valley, which provides education on the “latest and greatest”. I have worked as a studio manager and primary photographer for two prestigious studios and in 2000 decided to introduce my own business. Along the way, I met my wonderful husband who has supported my business endeavors. Sometimes you can even see him, carrying my bags and holding my lights , who could ask for more.
Photography is such a rewarding career. As my parents grew older and began to forget, I could see how a photograph could bring them back to that point in time. What a wonderful field to partake in, that allows our minds to relive our life stories.
My photographs have been published in several issues of Philadelphia Bride earning first place and honorable mentions in The Best of Delaware Valley Competitions. Down the Aisle magazine also printed many images with their wedding articles. Venues such as The Mansion on Main Street, The Radisson Valley Forge, The Corinthian Yacht Club, Laurel Creek Country Club, Aronimink Country Club and Daisy Chain Florist have utilized our photographs in their print and website media.
A few years ago, the Courier Post featured an article on the popularity of maternity portraits. They not only interviewed myself and the expectant couple but documented the actual pregnancy photography session as it took place in my studio.
